The Oscars, Golden Globes and Grammys may have come and gone, but there are elements of the award season that will linger on, particularly as they relate to fashion. We gathered up some of the red carpet trends that we feel will play an important part in mainstream fashion in the months to come. Discover our top award season fashion takeaways: pants, statement necklaces, red and 3-D textures.
1. Wear The Pants
The first of our award season fashion takeaways involves women who wear the pants. Several stunning stars opted for pants as opposed to gowns this year, making a strong declaration of confidence. Naomi Watts and Anna Kendrick showed how pants can make a sharp statement as part of tuxedo suits. Other stars such as Emma Stone and Gwen Stefani wowed in jumpsuits.
2. Make A Statement
While different accessories come and go for their time in the spotlight, it seemed that this season, it was all about the statement necklace. Beaded collars were favored by women such as Scarlett Johansson and Cate Blanchett. We especially loved Naomi Watts’ Bulgari snake necklace at the Golden Globes, which reminds us of our very own Meshme animal jewelry.
3. Red Alert
In case you missed it, we recently did a color trend report on the shade red, and how it is making a huge statement in the fashions at Meshme currently. Red hot looks were extremely popular on the red carpet as well. Women from Solange Knowles to Dakota Johnson to Diane Kruger sported the shade, proving that women of all different complexions can pull the look off.
4. 3D Texture
Futuristic feels were evident in silvery gowns with 3-dimensional textures. One would expect such contributions from Alexander McQueen and Armani Prive, as seen on Naomi Watts and Felicity Jones at the 2015 Academy Awards. At the same event we also lusted after Laura Dern’s embellished Alberta Ferretti ensemble, which looked like liquid metal.
